Halloween Week

Halloween fell on a Sunday. So it seemed that the Halloween festivities lasted all weekend. But at lelu's house, they started on Monday night with a little pumpkin carving. The four oldest kids each had pumpkin to carve. That really meant that Caveman and Sassy would carve a pumpkin and mom and dad would do the other ones. Everyone picked out their pumkin face. Except Caveman, he decided to freehand it.

I love how Rockstar and Cowboy have their tongues sticking out. They get that from Matt. Hilarious. Sassy picked the spiderweb pattern and had a hard time with it. But didn't want help. She eventually abandoned it and asked that I get her a new pumpkin. The next day after school she ended up just doing something else on the other side of the pumpkin but I never got a picture of it. Cowboy and I did the grey pumpkin. We were all very curious about what color the inside would be. It's orange. And smelled like honeydew. Crazy.

Rockstar and Dad made the monster and Caveman did the big one. Then he stacked them all up and lit them for a photo.

I loved how they all turned out and luckily the weather stayed cool and they were still good by Halloweeen.

Our weekend was really busy. Friday morning Baby and I went trick or treating with his friends on the square. I've done this several times but this time it was really crowded. And cold. So we didn't stay long. And Baby was being a stinker. We tried to get pictures of all the friends. This is what we ended up with.

A cowboy and pirate fight.

What a stinker.

That afternoon was the fall festival at the kids school and then we had the trunk or treat at church. Crazy day. We stayed busy on Saturday too. With Halloween falling on Sunday we were kind of expecting that trick or treating would be Saturday, that's how it's been in the past. But the city said Sunday. We figured some people would still do it Saturday so we decided to dress up and go see the haunted pirate ship. Well, there was no trick or treating but I had a great rock band.

We met our great friends at the pirate ship and after two trips through it we went to McDonald's for ice cream.

By the time the REAL Halloween came around no one wanted to dress up. But they still wanted candy. Caveman went to a friends house. Sassy did too, and she still dressed like a rock star. Cowboy went with her. So I just had Rockstar and Baby. She decided to dress like a clown and baby was a cowboy again. We met up with the Marler's and Henderson's just like always.

He loved trick or treating for the first few houses.

But then he saw a dog and freaked out. He still wanted the candy but didn't want to do the leg work. So I carried him the rest of the way.

It was a late night with school the next day. But I know the kids thought it was worth it. The amount of candy in our house was ridiculous.
