We got up really early to catch the first flight into O'Hare. We needed to be on the early flight so we could take the last morning train north to my sisters house. If we missed it we would have been stuck at the airport for a few hours. Once we landed and got our bags we rode the airport train out to the parking lot, then took the parking shuttle to the Metra startion. The kids were excited for their first real train ride and loved it when the conductor came around and punched their tickets.
We spent the day at my sisters house and went to a great park near her house. Caveman was excited that there was a skate park there.
The next day we drove up to Wisconsin. We toured the Jelly Belly factory and sampled LOTS of jelly beans.
Then we drove over to Kenosha. The dads dropped us off at the lake and they went to play golf. Lake Michagan was COLD. A huge storm had come through the night before and there were a lot of waves still. Caveman was even able to boogie board a little bit.
The next day we went into Chicago. Our first stop was lunch at Portillos. I'm hungry just thinking about it. It was Rockstar's birthday and she was so excited to go to the American Girl store. She had fun picking out some new clothes for Kit Kittredge.
We left Navy Pier and went over to Millennium Park. The girls played in the fountain for a minute but there were too many people there. We checked out some of the art in the park then made our way to the bean,
Then we left the park and walked over to Pizano's for dinner. Chicago pizza is awesome.
It was such a fun trip. Now that Marlena moved away we need to find another good reason to go back to Chicago. Shouldn't be hard, the pizza is reason enough...
