Tybee Island

Our second day in Savannah had afternoon showers in the forecast. And there was colder weather behind the rain. Caveman had an early rehearsal so we sent him off and decided to spend the morning at Tybee Island. It's a short drive from downtown Savannah, fifteen or twenty minutes, over lots of marsh land. I took these pics through the car window.

We drove straight to the beach. Although it was a warm morning, it was pretty chilly on the water. We ditched our shoes as soon as our feet hit the sand and went straight to the water.

This guy had his pockets full of shells before we got to the shoreline.

I love walking on the beach. And taking pictures. Since it was overcast the light was really nice.

I love all their wild hair in this one.

Cowboy thought he would try picking up the giant driftwood.

And Rockstar must have done a hundred cartwheels.

And can I just mention how much I love the rapid fire on my camera? I really do.

A glimpse of the lighthouse. And some of the beach houses.

This was definitely not the nicest beach we've been to. Everything on the island is kind of old and run down. But it was still so nice to have my feet in the sand.

My favorite house on the beach.

We left the beach and drove over to the lighthouse. A friend had told us about the painted turtles all over town and the kids had fun looking for them on the drive. We got to the lighthouse and Cowboy couldn't wait to get to the top.

I love the inside of the light house. The exposed brick and the chippy paint.

The boys love the big ships going by.

We met Caveman for lunch at the Crab Shack on our way back to Savannah. There was an alligator bayou out front. The kids thought it was pretty cool.

It was a really fun morning. I'll share the rest of the days adventures later. That was a ton of pictures!
